Subsequent stages — Thrust or Bust, Cock-A-Doodle-Doom, Hard to Bear, and Armored Hardcore — will be available each following Thursday at 6am Pacific / 9am Eastern / 2pm UK. Master Onion is the secret 301st bot, the last one you’ll unlock in the game. Astro Bot is the most recent entry in the Astro Bot series and was released in 2024 for the PlayStation 5 in celebration of PlayStation’s 30th anniversary. You can also hover over the Nebulas to see how many total collectibles there are in the sub-levels. The hub area ‘Crash Site’ also contains bots and puzzle pieces, which you obtain by interacting with the blue markers to call your bots for help. Then there are 2 extra Nebulas, one for the final story part, and one is the ‘Lost Galaxy’ that contains all 11 secret levels.

Not exactly my jam – but it would seem this, like other games before it, are fun to be had by anyone. TR88 ‘s why many studios try to compensate by pouring money into those other areas. These games are a celebration of gaming – specifically PlayStation gaming.

Its wild characters and artful, innovative games are particularly favored in Astro Bot’s directory of PlayStation history. There are 200 cameo characters in Astro Bot, most of whom first appeared in iconic PlayStation franchises. Unlocking all of them can be incredibly difficult, but not half as challenging as trying to figure out which games and series all of the cameo bots are from. @Bluetrain7 Nearly every level has at least one Bot to rescue, including the challenge levels and secret levels.

Pressing down on the touchpad activates a vacuum that can bring the AR Bots back inside. AR Bots also appear in the downloadable activity Ninja Bots, where one playable AR Bot appears. Beating Astro Bot’s main story took me about 10 hours, while getting the Platinum trophy took a little over 15 hours. But what I really love about Astro Bot is that it’s also just filled with bits and pieces.

200 Bots are required to clear the main story, as the final locked level, Falcon Mcfly, requires 200 Bots to access. [newline]Bots (formerly AR Bots and VR Bots) are a major species within the Astro Bot series. Appearing in every installment to date, they serve as the crew of Astro Bot, and their rescue appears as an objective throughout the games. A sequel, Astro’s Playroom, was released for the PlayStation 5 as a launch title that is pre-installed on every console and serves as a tech demo for the new DualSense controller.

Astro Bot Construction Derby Gameplay

The crash site hub world has its own areas to explore and is packed full of quirks, such as eventually letting you customise your ship and outfit. The gacha machine mechanic makes a particularly enjoyable return, providing a satisfying way to spend the thousands of coins you’ll collect. It’s not brand-new for the series at this point, but still hits all the right spots. Some of those biggest unexpected treats are the new powers that Astro gets along his journey. The basic movement of our little robot pal is great, with his jump, double jump, and hover hitting that sweet spot between floaty and finely tuned.

In each level, the main objective is to rescue Astro’s crew, scattered throughout the game’s five worlds and twenty levels. Players also face bosses at the end of each world, which require a certain number of rescued bots to challenge. Astro Bot Rescue Mission is a 3D platformer where players control Astro Bot, a small robot navigating various levels using a DualShock 4 controller. The game is designed for VR, so players experience the game world from a first-person perspective, essentially becoming a giant robot that interacts with the environment. This includes actions like smashing walls with head-butts, dodging attacks, and using the headset’s microphone to blow petals around.

This means that after the thrill of the game’s nostalgic moments wears off, there is not much reason to play after its 15 hours are up. With the basics on lock, Team Asobi lets players focus on Astro Bot’s wildly inventive level design. In one level, I get a power-up that lets me shrink Astro down to the size of an ant on command.

With the success of Astro Bot Rescue Mission, Team Asobi and Astro Bot jumped to the PlayStation 5. Each of the 11 levels can be found by finding a secret exit in various other levels throughout the universe. After announcing the news back in February, the DLC levels for Vicious Void Galaxy are now all available.

If you’re in the UK then Boxing Day this Friday should be good. Amazing game, would have been great to have had another Christmas level for this year. However, I have a digital console so not sure how that’ll work. @Oram77 agree, definitely prefer this kind of level over the speed run levels lol that last level almost broke me.

To put it simply, Astro Bot is quite literally a complete package. Each aspect of the game is superb and should be taken as the gold standard of how to release a game. The stunning visuals, great sound design, interesting story, and amazing gameplay round out a near perfect release of a game.

The Frog Gloves are the easier fist weapons to use but the Monkey’s ground pound alone makes it an even match. There are an absurd amount of rocket-powered animals in the game where one or even two could have sufficed. The first one players are likely to encounter is the Bulldog which plays a large role in Astro Bot’s first boss fight against Mighty Chewy. The Bulldog can rocket players forward and break through objects and surfaces like glass.

You can be sure that a game awarded this score has the highest quality presentation and expertly honed gameplay, but also breaks boundaries and pushes the industry forward in a meaningful manner. You say one game might appeal to one person but not the other and then start making blanket statements about what reviewers should be scoring games. Platform games obviously don’t appeal to you…that doesn’t mean that they can’t appeal to other people. When someone scores a game they have to score it for its own merits and take it for what it is, not compare it to every game that has ever existed. BG3 is exceptional and I couldn’t agree more it’s a 10 but it’s not comparable to Astro Bot in the same way it would be dumb to compare Gran Turismo 7 and Alan Wake 2.

Many that the Indies even are inspired by all feel bland, & why because the level design is eh, the movesets are pathetic & to be honest they don’t have the talent & their inspiration is just weak. Is it good with cameos yes (not a graveyard indeed), is it good with core mechanics IT OFFERS yes, level design eh the themes are generic. @MrMeeeseeeks Many of them are from the defunct Japan Studio that was shut down by Sony in 2021.
